Donate a Horse
Our mandate restricts us to only take thoroughbred racehorses who have come straight off the track or from a farm where the owner has had him rehabilitated (i.e, we do not take in thoroughbreds who have been off the track for a number of years). Off the track thoroughbreds who have been kept as riding horses or broodmares are not eligible to enter the LongRun program.
All of our horses are donated by their owner, to ensure the safety of their horses after their racing days. LongRun follows up with their adoptees on a regular basis for a 1 year period to ensure the horse remains in a happy and healthy environment. Only qualified, compatible candidates are able to adopt a LongRun horse.
Waiting List
All applications will be reviewed and placed on the waiting list to enter the program. We encourage owners and trainers to take responsibility for those racehorses no longer able to compete by continuing to care for them until LongRun is able to assist.
In the interm, we are happy to post photos on our website and make connections between adopters and available horses.
Thoroughbred racehorses can be donated to the LongRun program by submitting a Donated Horse Information Sheet or by using the form below.
Pictures must also be submitted via the online form or by emailing info@longrunretirement.com.
Please contact the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society office at 416-675-3993 ext. 3440 for more information.
The form has three steps. After each step you will be given the option to “Save and continue later.” If you choose this option, you will be emailed a link which you can use to return to your application and complete at a later date. Please note, the link is only valid for 30 days.
