Hunter Classic Series 2019
LongRun once again hosts a 4 show Hunter Classic Series at Palgrave in 2019!
Horses may be ridden by amateur or pro riders. The classic will offer 2 heights 2’6” and 3’ and will consist of two rounds with open numerical scoring, with the top 10 scores returning for round 2. Scores from both rounds will be combined to determine final placing. Each winner will receive a cooler as well as a $100 Gift Certificate from Exclusively Equine. Prize money and ribbons to 8th.
Open to all Thoroughbreds with a valid tattoo or papers from The Jockey Club or CTHS.
Copy of the papers must be provided to the Horse Show Office or Tattoo verified by Show Vet.

East/West Challenge
$500 bonus provided by Chiefswood Aftercare to the Thoroughbred with the most points from all Classics in the series.

Why a Thoroughbred-only series?
Thoroughbreds have long been a foundation breed for many different disciplines, and many top competitors on the international stage are starting to once again recognize the fundamental versatility of Off Track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs) and the merits they bring to all levels of competition.
The hunter series is a fantastic way to engage all levels of riders who own OTTBs, allowing them to show off not only the highly desirable nature and drive of their mounts, but also the work put in to transitioning these deserving athletes into their new careers.
Why LongRun?
LongRun has been in operation since 1999 and has worked tirelessly to place over 800 thoroughbreds in new adoptive homes. We are the first industry-funded adoption program in Canada, and we work directly with owners and trainers stabled at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, and Fort Erie Racetrack in the Niagara region to offer a responsible retirement option for their horses.
Our local industry has always supported transition efforts, and part of our responsibility is to educate the equine community at large as to the merits of our horses and how successful they can be. We have had great success in seeing not only LongRun graduates participate in these classes, but have encouraged numerous adoptions as a result of our efforts to promote the breed at these world-class shows.
New Division, New Ideas!
Stacey Krembil of Chiefswood Stables has generously donated her time and expertise for the last eight years to organize the offering of these classes at various FEI/Equine Canada sanctioned show grounds across Ontario. We now have 4 shows in the East, and introduced a Western division of the series for 2013, in partnership with New Stride Thoroughbred Adoption Society, from Vancouver, British Columbia. Riders across North America have long valued the Thoroughbred in many disciplines and we aim to offer deserving riders and horses the chance to show off their talents, and promote the breed all at the same time
Horses competing in the Thoroughbred Hunter Classic Series on the East and West coasts will accumulate points and the Thoroughbred with the highest number of points will also receive a $500 bonus provided by Chiefswood Aftercare. All points will be calculated promptly after the shows, and current thoroughbred/rider standings will be available on here on our dedicated page, and via New Stride. We will also be updating our social media outlets with results as we go!
