Founding member Martha brings a wealth of horse retirement experience to the table – she, husband Dave and daughter Sara have 14 retirees of their own on their Loretto- area farm. Martha has been involved for many years as a thoroughbred owner and breeder and has links to the show world as well. A former H.B.P.A. employee, she most recently has joined the Woodbine race office. She and sister, Maggie LeBlanc, were key players in LongRun’s start up and, although busy with her new career, Martha still finds time to help lead our Horse Committee and liase with the many veterinarians who generously offer assistance. Martha says “I have enjoyed my time with this very worthwhile organization. I am constantly amazed at the commitment of my fellow board members. The general public has no concept of the industry support this program receives and how important the retirement of each equine athlete is to all of us involved with racing. I hope this organization will continue to grow long after I am gone.”
